For hundreds of years, the castle has been the property of one of the oldest noble families of Sicily.• At one time the nerve centre of the Grimaldi estate covering hundreds of hectares, today the castle is surrounded by one of the largest citrus groves in Sicily (200 hectares) and is still owned by the family.• The castle is set in an excellent position, only a few minutes from famous towns like Caltagirone and Siracusa.
It is only 20 minutes from Catania airport, sea port and the Playa (Catania beach) and 15 minutes from the Oasi del Simeto Nature Resenve, offering marvellous horse riding.• The estate also includes a Late Stone Age necropolis, an area of great historical and archaeological interest.• Dating back to the 16th century, the building consists of an internal courtyard (300 m2) onto which open a granary and storerooms, and the "palmento" and "frantoio" (where grapes and olives are pressed).
